Doing nothing #Monday Musings

My weekends are usually jam packed. Invariably I come up with a series of things to-do, places to visit, guests to be invited, mess to be cleaned and what not!! Saturdays are usually the times we prefer to spend the day out and have some family time. But, this week had been an exception and it is worth the mention.

I realized that I am in a race to catch up with life. I am running the hectic schedules with school, work, chores and forgetting that there needs to be a pause. Continue reading

My June gratitude list

Gratitude-Circle-e1417422088249

Let me begin this month’s gratitude post with a confession. There were days when I did not realize the value of being thankful. I never considered being thankful to be really indispensable or perhaps I did not make efforts to express the same. But they say, experience is the best teacher and yes it is. I learned from experiences. Nature has taught me the importance of being grateful and expressing the same. Continue reading

Day 2 – 3 Day Quote Challenge

Continuing the 3-Day quote challenge, my quote for Day 2:

quote2

Isn’t it cool!!!! . Just a simple thought but with a meaning.

Perhaps, it boils down to the fact that ups and downs are pretty common in life, its about how we deal with it. Either we whine or we have to learn to ignore them, go past them and tell ourselves “This too shall pass!!”

For me personally, whenever I am upset, either shopping or cleaning comes to my rescue. I clean like a frantic or shop like a maniac. So, my dear husband always ensures to fight with me only when I am at home so that he gets to see a cleaner version of the cupboards, (at least one advantage of the fight ) rather than seeing me home with shopping bags.

How about you? What helps you uplift your mood?

I love you when…

I love you when                                                                                                                                                                                you gently caress my fore head
touch my cheeks and                                                                                                                                                             finally land on my lips

I love you when                                                                                                                                                                                you are the first thing in the morning
and the last feeling in the night and                                                                                                                                      you glimpse all through the day

I love you when                                                                                                                                                                                you tease me with hide and seek
you delay me to my work and                                                                                                                                                 call me home early

I love you when                                                                                                                                                                                     I dress up specially for you
I make hot dinners because of you and                                                                                                                          the day ends quick and night starts fast

Oh my dear rain!!                                                                                                                                                                                I Love You
You are a real source of joy                                                                                                                                                      but not always coy!!

Yesterday, there were the first showers of this year’s monsoon and I loved getting drenched.

I love the rains!! Do you?

That Stone is waiting to be turned

Last Friday, when I was at work, a lady  walked-in to the office and wanted to see me.

I checked my calendar and did not notice any prior appointments. Wondering who it could be,I went to the reception to meet her. She was an elderly lady, neatly dressed in a starched cotton saree carrying a big bag and a file and was eager to explain me the purpose of our meeting.

We sat down for a casual chat and she introduced herself as a student in LIC doing some kind of project work for which needs her to visit couple of offices and collect feedback from various people. The word “student” amazed me!! Yes, it did and visit to offices in this scorching heat, made it more interesting for me to know the details.

She was in her mid 40s and proud to call herself a student. Her energy levels were mesmerizing. She spoke to me about her career, her love towards her job, managing kids  ( 3 daughters and 1 son – elder daughter married) and adding to it, the family also own a textile business in which she plays an important role.

I was astonished as she continued talking about her joint family tales to how to make fluffy rotis to correct eating habits to balancing work life. We spent about 15-20 minutes talking but she left a powerful impact on me. I felt completely energized after the talk and felt there is so much myself still unexplored, unseen. In the brief conversation we had, she taught me a profound lesson that “We should not leave the feeling of complacency shadow us and always believe there is still a stone unturned”.

Being Happy #Mondaymusings

For me, life is a miracle. It is beautiful and filled with blessings. I enjoy every moment being alive. I feel grateful to the nature for blessing me.

I was not born with these thoughts, neither did it come easily to me. I had my own share of dark patches, learned from experiences, practiced happiness. I realized happiness is within us, it is we who decide whether we are  happy or we tend to whine about things which are not in our reach.

Of late, I started enjoying many silly happinesses, to name a few:

  • I feel happy when I get up early in the morning that I am still alive and I am blessed with a lovely day
  • I feel happy when I see the sunshine barging into my kitchen when I start my morning cooking
  • I feel happy when I finish cooking and still have 10 minutes to go through the newspaper
  • I feel happy when I reach office on time and look forward for a loving day
  • I feel happy when my son calls to update me about his day at school
  • I feel happy to see my son playing with the kids around and having a jolly time
  • I feel happy when my mother-in-law makes the dinner ready for me when I am back from a tiring day at work
  • I feel happy to see my husband back home after a long drive from work
  • I feel happy if I am able to finish all my chores and hit the bed little early

I am sure, when you read this list, it sounds pretty naive, perhaps these are certain things that happen in a typical day in all our lives, isn’t it? Yes, they are. I am only trying to look for the silver lining and convert them into blessings (Read happiness)

Life is only once, and it is too short to be unhappy. Be happy, look out for small happinesses around you and I am sure life will turn into a  bliss.

#100sareepact

I have been looking at #100sareepact self challenge doing the rounds in social media for quite some time and completely inspired to bang on it!!

What is 100sareepact?

This is a self challenge started by Anju and Ally. This is an initiative to bring back the custom of saree as a daily wear. Women who are a part of this pact to wear saree 100 times before this year end, take a picture of themselves in the saree, narrate the memories involved with the saree and tag #100sareepact.

Why do I want to do this?

I have always loved to wear sarees but never pushed myself to wear it on regular basis as it involves lot of time, patience and planning my mornings, which otherwise are usually busy with cooking schedules. But, I am in total love of this challenge and cannot wait further to plunge.

Yesterday, we had a family lunch and what better day than this to start my pact? With me starting in June, I am left with 7 months to reach the target i.e approximately 14 sarees a month and that virtually translates to a saree every alternate day. This does not seem to be practical for me, but then I love to push myself.

Now that I started this, let me see where do I reach? BTW, the only soul who is really alarmed about this pact is my dear husband, who is scared I might end up buying 99 more sarees to reach the target :p
